Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Trading & Consumer Goods and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Mask Corp (TW:2338), which rose 10.00% or 1.80 points to trade at 19.80 at the close. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) added 9.97% or 7.20 points to end at 79.40 and Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) was up 9.96% or 4.50 points to 49.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Power Quotient International Co Ltd (TW:6145), which lost 9.98% or 0.93 points to trade at 8.39 in late trade. China Steel Structure Co Ltd (TW:2013) declined 5.49% or 1.60 points to end at 27.55 and Associated Industries China Inc (TW:9912) shed 5.09% or 0.55 points to 10.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 478 to 310 and 125 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.90% or 0.64 to $71.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.85% or 0.66 to hit $77.87 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 1.10 to trade at $1314.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.35% to 29.828, while TWD/CNY rose 0.24% to 0.2129.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 92.84.
