Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Machinery and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.34% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were GEM Services Inc (TW:6525), which rose 9.96% or 7.50 points to trade at 82.80 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 9.95% or 3.80 points to end at 42.00 and Advanced Power Electronics Corp (TW:8261) was up 9.88% or 3.40 points to 37.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which lost 3.72% or 0.70 points to trade at 18.10 in late trade. Ji-Haw Industrial Co Ltd (TW:3011) declined 3.68% or 0.29 points to end at 7.58 and Primax Electronics Ltd (TW:4915) shed 3.46% or 2.80 points to 78.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 491 to 264 and 123 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.24% or 0.13 to $54.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $60.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.17 to trade at $1277.87 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.09% to 30.172, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.2199.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 94.41.
