Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electricity, Paper & Pulp and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.12% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were ASRock Inc (TW:3515), which rose 10.00% or 7.20 points to trade at 79.20 at the close. Holtek Semiconductor Inc (TW:6202) added 9.98% or 6.00 points to end at 66.10 and Shiny Chemical Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1773) was up 9.92% or 7.20 points to 79.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taiwan Paiho Ltd (TW:9938), which lost 4.56% or 6.00 points to trade at 125.50 in late trade. Chailease Holding Co Ltd (TW:5871) declined 3.88% or 3.10 points to end at 76.80 and Global View Co Ltd (TW:3040) shed 3.63% or 1.40 points to 37.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 376 to 349 and 146 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.83% or 0.42 to $51.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.60% or 0.34 to hit $56.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.69 to trade at $1300.19 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 30.138, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2176.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 92.84.
