Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.57%, while the MDAX index declined 0.79%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 0.41% or 0.360 points to trade at 88.090 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 0.25% or 0.040 points to end at 16.185 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 0.25% or 0.45 points to 179.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 2.50% or 0.380 points to trade at 14.790 in late trade. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 1.54% or 1.400 points to end at 89.400 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 1.48% or 0.335 points to 22.350.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 4.10% to 49.200, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was up 1.39% to settle at 15.290 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 1.36% to close at 55.880.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 3.50% to 32.220 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 3.04% to settle at 77.930 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was down 2.58% to 116.95 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 2.04% to 12.250, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 1.81% to settle at 50.160 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 1.62% to close at 60.670.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 4.60% to 11.000 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 3.83% to settle at 10.245 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.22% to 48.895 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 542 to 213 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.05% to 15.59.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.43% or 5.35 to $1253.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.75% or 0.36 to hit $47.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.07 to trade at $50.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0873, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8645.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.65% at 98.94.
