Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 2.21% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Endesa (MC:ELE), which rose 0.53% or 0.090 points to trade at 16.950 at the close. Gas Natural (MC:GAS) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 17.910 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 10.870 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 4.15% or 1.150 points to trade at 26.590 in late trade. ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (MC:ACS) declined 4.04% or 1.210 points to end at 28.710 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 3.91% or 0.950 points to 23.320.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 151 to 30 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.66% or 8.70 to $1323.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.60% or 0.99 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.45% or 0.95 to trade at $64.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.2240, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8798.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 90.23.
