Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 0.23% or 0.025 points to trade at 10.665 at the close. Endesa (MC:ELE) fell 0.07% or 0.015 points to end at 20.500 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) was down 0.18% or 0.045 points to 24.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which lost 2.83% or 0.380 points to trade at 13.040 in late trade. Bankia SA (MC:BKIA) declined 2.35% or 0.100 points to end at 4.155 and Banco Santander (MC:SAN) shed 2.30% or 0.132 points to 5.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 144 to 30 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.90% or 11.57 to $1290.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.79% or 0.39 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.18 to trade at $52.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1757, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.9057.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.36.
