Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM), which rose 4.08% or 0.500 points to trade at 12.765 at the close. Acerinox (MC:ACX) added 2.88% or 0.340 points to end at 12.160 and Endesa (MC:ELE) was up 2.48% or 0.470 points to 19.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 2.03% or 0.092 points to trade at 4.450 in late trade. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) declined 1.87% or 0.490 points to end at 25.665 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) shed 0.62% or 0.017 points to 2.730.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 144 to 30 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 6.40 to $1287.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $51.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.13 to trade at $56.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1842, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8966.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.93.
