Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which rose 3.70% or 0.33 points to trade at 9.35 at the close. Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (BME:COL) added 3.23% or 0.19 points to end at 6.24 and Ferrovial (BME:FER) was up 2.64% or 0.94 points to 36.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA), which lost 2.54% or 0.24 points to trade at 9.34 in late trade. Banco de Sabadell SA (BME:SABE) declined 2.17% or 0.04 points to end at 1.83 and Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) shed 1.51% or 0.32 points to 20.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 69 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.05% or 24.40 to $2,351.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.50% or 0.39 to hit $78.29 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.41 to trade at $82.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.00% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.24% at 103.89.
