Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Repsol (BME:REP), which rose 1.77% or 0.20 points to trade at 11.48 at the close. Bankinter (BME:BKT) added 1.44% or 0.11 points to end at 7.61 and Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY) was up 1.21% or 0.28 points to 23.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS), which lost 2.50% or 0.20 points to trade at 7.80 in late trade. Fluidra (BME:FLUI) declined 1.59% or 0.38 points to end at 23.46 and Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) shed 1.50% or 0.27 points to 17.74.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 79 and 26 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.58% or 15.29 to $2,616.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.30% or 0.92 to hit $71.52 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.71 to trade at $74.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 108.01.
