Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Materials, Clean Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 7.14% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.800 at the close. HudBay Minerals Inc. (TO:HBM) added 6.13% or 0.30 points to end at 5.19 and Air Canada (TO:AC) was up 4.33% or 0.440 points to 10.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IAMGold Corporation (TO:IMG), which lost 4.16% or 0.230 points to trade at 5.300 in late trade. Teck Resources Ltd (TO:TCKb) declined 3.82% or 0.94 points to end at 23.65 and OceanaGold Corporation (TO:OGC) shed 3.67% or 0.150 points to 3.940.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 634 to 490 and 143 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 1.77% to 14.39.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.41% or 5.40 to $1320.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $47.99 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.17 to trade at $49.98 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.20% to 0.7621, while CAD/EUR rose 0.03% to 0.6780.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 95.39.
