Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Software, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Retail, Consumer & Cyclical and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.09% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index declined 0.28%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which rose 3.37% or 2.670 points to trade at 81.980 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.45% or 0.320 points to end at 22.315 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 1.41% or 0.225 points to 16.180 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which lost 2.09% or 1.380 points to trade at 64.620 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.79% or 2.850 points to end at 156.650 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 1.40% or 2.450 points to 173.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 1.68% to 30.195, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 1.65% to settle at 44.900 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 1.02% to close at 45.005.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 2.09% to 72.930 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 1.82% to settle at 39.61 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.72% to 37.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 5.47% to 24.775, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 1.57% to settle at 41.720 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 1.35% to close at 183.750.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 8.12% to 36.33 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 3.16% to settle at 8.612 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.35% to 42.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 464 to 408 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.15% to 16.37.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.16% or 2.00 to $1265.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.24 to trade at $51.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.0867, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8899.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.47% at 98.75.
