Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which rose 6.34% or 3.200 points to trade at 53.700 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) added 3.52% or 125.0 points to end at 3675.0 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) was up 3.43% or 93.5 points to 2816.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which lost 4.01% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.0948 in late trade. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) declined 3.23% or 6.50 points to end at 195.00 and Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) shed 2.90% or 2.88 points to 96.33.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 106 to 104 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.58% to 36.340.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.69% or 21.10 to $1227.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.12% or 0.05 to hit $41.81 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.12 to trade at $44.30 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.42% to 66.0197, while EUR/RUB fell 0.42% to 74.347.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.85.
