Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 8.59% or 0.0563 points to trade at 0.7119 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 4.56% or 1.080 points to end at 24.780 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 4.00% or 36.50 points to 949.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which lost 3.55% or 30.5 points to trade at 828.5 in late trade. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 2.70% or 8.90 points to end at 320.50 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) shed 2.60% or 69.0 points to 2580.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 116 to 93 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.65% to 34.660.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.65% or 8.85 to $1367.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.05% or 0.49 to hit $47.09 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.38 to trade at $48.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.03% to 64.3098, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 71.319.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 96.21.
