Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which rose 11.79% or 25.00 points to trade at 237.00 at the close. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) added 10.30% or 15.61 points to end at 167.10 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 8.26% or 116.00 points to 1520.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 4.73% or 9500 points to trade at 191500 in late trade. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) declined 3.26% or 2.51 points to end at 74.44 and Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) shed 2.86% or 85.0 points to 2885.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 130 to 78 and 23 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.56% to 23.570.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.21% or 2.61 to $1266.81 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.81% or 0.90 to hit $48.72 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 0.94 to trade at $51.47 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 57.1578, while EUR/RUB rose 0.36% to 62.167.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 99.03.
