Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which rose 5.61% or 0.1200 points to trade at 2.2600 at the close. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) added 1.09% or 10.5 points to end at 975.0 and Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) was up 0.92% or 1.18 points to 129.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which lost 2.74% or 0.0055 points to trade at 0.1950 in late trade. ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) declined 2.71% or 36.0 points to end at 1292.0 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) shed 2.49% or 90.0 points to 3530.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 144 to 80 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.44% to 22.770.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1133.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.39% or 0.21 to hit $53.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.30 to trade at $55.05 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.72% to 61.0089, while EUR/RUB fell 0.19% to 63.635.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 103.00.
