Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which rose 3.99% or 46 points to trade at 1198 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) added 2.85% or 241.0 points to end at 8700.0 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 2.33% or 0.0021 points to 0.0911 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which lost 3.42% or 25.00 points to trade at 706.00 in late trade. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) declined 2.23% or 8.00 points to end at 351.00 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) shed 2.08% or 0.0016 points to 0.0740.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 139 to 85 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.94% to 36.640.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.93% or 11.40 to $1230.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $35.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.01 to trade at $37.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.93% to 69.3885, while EUR/RUB rose 1.28% to 79.102.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.56.
