Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 2.28% or 59.0 points to trade at 2648.0 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 2.24% or 0.0155 points to end at 0.7081 and E.ON Rossiya OAO (MCX:UPRO) was up 1.84% or 0.0500 points to 2.7730 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p), which lost 5.00% or 1.800 points to trade at 34.200 in late trade. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 2.23% or 211.0 points to end at 9250.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) shed 2.13% or 1.500 points to 69.000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 99 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 4.14% to 31.970.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.15 to $1328.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.67% or 0.78 to hit $45.87 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 0.80 to trade at $46.81 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.95% to 62.9038, while EUR/RUB fell 0.40% to 69.616.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.58.
