Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which rose 7.95% or 5.300 points to trade at 72.000 at the close. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) added 2.23% or 4.10 points to end at 188.20 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 1.97% or 1.820 points to 94.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which lost 5.84% or 97.5 points to trade at 1572.5 in late trade. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) declined 3.23% or 22.00 points to end at 660.00 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 2.65% or 3.23 points to 118.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 102 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.73% to 25.590.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.55 to $1251.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.61% or 0.81 to hit $49.63 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 0.96 to trade at $51.55 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.34% to 62.2970, while EUR/RUB rose 0.35% to 69.496.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 96.84.
