Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 2.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Bank VTB PAO (MCX:VTBR), which unchanged 0.66% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.02 at the close. Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) added 0.49% or 1.14 points to end at 235.79 and Unipro (MCX:UPRO) was unchanged 0.10% or 0.00 points to 1.91 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Globaltrans Investment Gdr (MCX:GLTRDR), which lost 6.24% or 37.60 points to trade at 565.35 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.02% or 1.84 points to end at 59.07 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 2.88% or 0.68 points to 22.84.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 215 to 34 and 4 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 1.77% to 24.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.10 to $2,365.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.18 to hit $84.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.22 to trade at $87.56 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.01% to 88.99, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 96.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.82.
