Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 1.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN), which rose 3.01% or 23.0 points to trade at 788.0 at the close. MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) added 2.54% or 14.00 points to end at 564.40 and Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY) was up 2.26% or 2.00 points to 90.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which lost 3.98% or 16.70 points to trade at 402.80 in late trade. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) declined 3.40% or 25.00 points to end at 710.00 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) shed 3.39% or 391.0 points to 11159.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 78 and 26 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 2.05% to 22.440.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.90 to $1321.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.00% or 0.63 to hit $62.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.87 to trade at $65.65 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.08% to 56.2324, while EUR/RUB fell 0.21% to 68.7150.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 90.44.
