Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Globaltrans Investment Gdr (MCX:GLTRDR), which rose 1.49% or 9.00 points to trade at 614.00 at the close. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) added 0.57% or 5.80 points to end at 1,017.80 and Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL) was up 0.34% or 42.50 points to 12,368.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VK Company Ltd DRC (MCX:VKCO), which lost 3.27% or 14.80 points to trade at 438.00 in late trade. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM) declined 2.38% or 0.16 points to end at 6.73 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 2.31% or 0.47 points to 19.93.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 167 to 71 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 18.43% to 24.39 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.43% or 34.90 to $2,467.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.14% or 0.86 to hit $76.09 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $78.96 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.11% to 86.65, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 94.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 103.01.
