Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which rose 0.22% or 13.00 points to trade at 6,012.00 at the close. NK Rosneft PAO (MCX:ROSN) added 0.19% or 1.10 points to end at 574.10 and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM) was up 0.12% or 0.01 points to 7.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Globaltrans Investment Gdr (MCX:GLTRDR), which lost 3.78% or 23.70 points to trade at 602.95 in late trade. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) declined 3.21% or 0.78 points to end at 23.52 and Bank VTB PAO (MCX:VTBR) 3.19% or 0.00 points to 0.02.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 181 to 65 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 5.01% to 23.50.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.37% or 32.00 to $2,365.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.95% or 0.79 to hit $83.60 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $87.07 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.74% to 88.50, while EUR/RUB rose 0.72% to 95.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 105.02.
