Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 4.14% or 3.900 points to trade at 98.000 at the close. X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) added 2.31% or 40.0 points to end at 1770.0 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) was up 2.23% or 16.0 points to 733.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which lost 3.74% or 21.5 points to trade at 553.5 in late trade. Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) declined 3.47% or 137.0 points to end at 3806.0 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 1.93% or 0.190 points to 9.640.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 105 to 100 and 26 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.80% to 23.460.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 3.70 to $1270.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $65.61 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 1.05 to trade at $73.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.07% to 63.7311, while EUR/RUB rose 0.28% to 73.9184.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 94.55.
