Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 1.47% or 2.05 points to trade at 141.30 at the close. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 1.43% or 2450 points to end at 174050 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was up 1.27% or 0.350 points to 27.870 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which lost 4.60% or 238.0 points to trade at 4937.0 in late trade. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) declined 1.84% or 1.28 points to end at 68.33 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 1.53% or 7.10 points to 455.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 113 to 101 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 1.21% to 23.450.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 1.20 to $1303.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.30% or 0.85 to hit $64.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.66% or 0.50 to trade at $74.88 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.33% to 61.9436, while EUR/RUB rose 0.21% to 72.9550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 93.54.
