Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 2.34% or 3.35 points to trade at 146.45 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 1.90% or 0.0685 points to end at 3.6740 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 0.92% or 4.40 points to 483.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which lost 3.26% or 21.5 points to trade at 637.0 in late trade. MVideo (MCX:MVID) declined 3.03% or 11.00 points to end at 351.90 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 2.82% or 1.090 points to 37.610.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 127 to 97 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.66% to 19.650.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.62% or 8.02 to $1295.32 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.70% or 1.00 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $63.45 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 58.3739, while EUR/RUB fell 0.12% to 69.5568.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 92.73.
