Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 2.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 6.85% or 3.93 points to trade at 61.29 at the close. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) added 4.78% or 7.70 points to end at 168.80 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 4.78% or 13.95 points to 306.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polyus Gold International Ltd (MCX:PGIL), which lost 3.41% or 7.10 points to trade at 201.00 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 3.06% or 90.0 points to end at 2849.0 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 2.72% or 13.50 points to 483.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 145 to 57 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.57% to 41.400.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1123.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 8.58% or 3.31 to hit $41.91 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 7.55% or 3.25 to trade at $46.40 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 3.19% to 66.719, while EUR/RUB fell 3.94% to 74.886.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 95.91.
