Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 7.85% or 1.092 points to trade at 15.002 at the close. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) added 5.76% or 122.0 points to end at 2239.0 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) was up 5.41% or 10.90 points to 212.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included LSR (MCX:LSRG), which lost 6.20% or 38.0 points to trade at 575.0 in late trade. RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR) declined 5.04% or 17.10 points to end at 322.00 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 4.14% or 0.710 points to 16.440.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 106 to 85 and 6 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 4.89% to 38.630.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.75% or 9.00 to $1194.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.08% or 0.62 to hit $57.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.27 to trade at $63.72 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 2.56% to 53.334, while EUR/RUB rose 1.93% to 57.360.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 98.04.
