Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 1.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which rose 3.65% or 0.0194 points to trade at 0.5514 at the close. Sberbank (MCX:SBER) added 3.06% or 2.15 points to end at 72.35 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 2.90% or 3800 points to 134800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which lost 1.72% or 36.0 points to trade at 2060.0 in late trade. LSR (MCX:LSRG) declined 1.55% or 9.0 points to end at 572.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) shed 1.22% or 0.780 points to 63.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 89 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 4.34% to 33.720.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.41% or 4.80 to $1174.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.44% or 0.84 to hit $59.17 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.14% or 1.32 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.79% to 55.246, while EUR/RUB fell 1.73% to 61.589.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.63% at 95.67.
