Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 8.47% or 1.055 points to trade at 13.505 at the close. Megion (MCX:MFGS) added 4.97% or 26.0 points to end at 549.0 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 4.92% or 0.0357 points to 0.7617 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which lost 2.76% or 42.00 points to trade at 1478.00 in late trade. PIK (MCX:PIKK) declined 2.50% or 7.70 points to end at 300.50 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) shed 2.41% or 22.0 points to 892.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 105 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.30% to 25.810.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.74% or 9.39 to $1276.39 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.99% or 0.48 to hit $47.88 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.45 to trade at $50.18 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.42% to 56.6332, while EUR/RUB rose 1.20% to 63.932.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 96.71.
