Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 3.33% or 0.0080 points to trade at 0.2483 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 3.23% or 1.335 points to end at 42.605 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 2.98% or 0.0366 points to 1.2651 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which lost 5.56% or 2.070 points to trade at 35.130 in late trade. Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) declined 4.33% or 169.5 points to end at 3749.5 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) shed 2.04% or 19.40 points to 932.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 124 to 93 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.69% to 22.400.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.24% or 2.90 to $1222.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.24 to hit $53.78 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.28 to trade at $56.84 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.67% to 59.0119, while EUR/RUB fell 0.32% to 63.695.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 99.58.
