Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which rose 4.47% or 155.0 points to trade at 3625.0 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 3.17% or 0.0266 points to end at 0.8656 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 2.63% or 0.785 points to 30.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which lost 1.86% or 57.0 points to trade at 3000.0 in late trade. Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) declined 1.69% or 2.90 points to end at 168.60 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) shed 1.30% or 24.5 points to 1864.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 102 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 6.73% to 27.040.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.61% or 8.40 to $1364.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.97% or 1.57 to hit $41.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.68% or 1.54 to trade at $43.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.66% to 66.2315, while EUR/RUB fell 1.54% to 73.835.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.51.
