Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p), which rose 2.15% or 1.90 points to trade at 90.16 at the close. Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) added 2.11% or 17.5 points to end at 846.0 and Sberbank (MCX:SBER) was up 1.89% or 2.44 points to 131.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p), which lost 6.21% or 4.50 points to trade at 68.00 in late trade. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) declined 3.83% or 3.52 points to end at 88.49 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) shed 3.67% or 6.50 points to 170.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 117 to 92 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.73% to 33.450.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.54% or 7.45 to $1359.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.04% or 1.44 to hit $45.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.09% or 1.51 to trade at $47.29 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.29% to 64.3868, while EUR/RUB fell 0.28% to 71.252.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.28.
