Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 2.17% or 2.69 points to trade at 126.69 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) added 1.91% or 176.0 points to end at 9376.0 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was up 1.51% or 4.30 points to 288.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 3.00% or 0.0985 points to trade at 3.1810 in late trade. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) declined 2.64% or 0.545 points to end at 20.125 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) shed 2.57% or 3.06 points to 116.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 142 to 89 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.69% to 23.040 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.18% or 2.25 to $1265.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.22 to trade at $51.60 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.06% to 62.5227, while EUR/RUB fell 0.41% to 67.942.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.47% at 98.75.
