Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 2.07% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 6.05% or 8.50 points to trade at 148.90 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 5.16% or 0.1750 points to end at 3.5680 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 3.63% or 12 points to 356 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK RussNeft PAO (MCX:RNFT), which lost 1.42% or 8.6 points to trade at 595.0 in late trade. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 1.00% or 1.55 points to end at 154.20 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) shed 0.88% or 5 points to 565.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 134 to 68 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.89% to 18.210.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.15% or 2.00 to $1320.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.75% or 0.46 to hit $62.09 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.19 to trade at $68.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.61% to 56.9046, while EUR/RUB fell 0.36% to 68.6525.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 91.67.
