Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia gained 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Yandex NV (MCX:YDEX), which rose 5.57% or 203.00 points to trade at 3,847.00 at the close. Globaltrans Investment Gdr (MCX:GLTRDR) added 4.22% or 24.45 points to end at 603.85 and Rostelekom PAO (MCX:RTKM) was up 3.98% or 3.13 points to 81.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which lost 1.63% or 0.85 points to trade at 51.20 in late trade. VK Company Ltd DRC (MCX:VKCO) declined 0.75% or 3.40 points to end at 452.40 and Polyus PAO (MCX:PLZL) shed 0.39% or 48.50 points to 12,330.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 185 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.57% to 29.51.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 8.10 to $2,423.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.10% or 2.27 to hit $75.47 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $78.51 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.01% to 85.79, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 93.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 102.97.
