Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 2.76% or 0.245 points to trade at 9.120 at the close. Unipro (MCX:UPRO) added 2.74% or 0.0760 points to end at 2.8460 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 2.17% or 2.230 points to 105.190 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY), which lost 2.20% or 2.05 points to trade at 90.95 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 2.13% or 3.05 points to end at 140.00 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) shed 1.66% or 1.79 points to 106.11.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 95 and 26 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 8.31% to 20.400.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.46% or 5.80 to $1259.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $74.22 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.26 to trade at $78.02 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.25% to 63.2850, while EUR/RUB rose 0.25% to 73.7928.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 94.23.
