Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.99% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 8.02% or 0.0048 points to trade at 0.0648 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 4.91% or 6.29 points to end at 134.39 and MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG) was up 4.39% or 0.1340 points to 3.1895 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 3.32% or 24.50 points to trade at 713.00 in late trade. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) declined 3.27% or 6.70 points to end at 198.00 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) shed 2.87% or 23.5 points to 796.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 133 to 91 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.87% to 18.280 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.49 to $1315.41 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $46.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.38 to trade at $51.28 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.75% to 58.3873, while EUR/RUB fell 1.17% to 69.6233.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 92.61.
