Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.68% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG), which rose 3.50% or 28.0 points to trade at 827.5 at the close. MTS (MCX:MTSS) added 3.16% or 8.95 points to end at 291.95 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 2.23% or 14.90 points to 681.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which lost 2.11% or 15.0 points to trade at 696.0 in late trade. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 1.42% or 2.10 points to end at 146.30 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) shed 1.35% or 4.40 points to 321.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 90 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 4.84% to 15.320.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.47% or 6.03 to $1287.77 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $51.02 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.13 to trade at $56.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.22% to 57.8550, while EUR/RUB rose 0.08% to 68.5350.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.92.
