Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which rose 2.62% or 17.30 points to trade at 678.70 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 1.78% or 2.30 points to end at 131.30 and Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER) was up 1.43% or 3.24 points to 230.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN), which lost 3.13% or 330.0 points to trade at 10220.0 in late trade. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) declined 2.57% or 1.71 points to end at 64.70 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 2.48% or 0.280 points to 11.010.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 124 to 96 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.97% to 19.400.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.08% or 1.00 to $1295.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.52% or 0.30 to hit $57.81 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.38 to trade at $63.00 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.16% to 58.3900, while EUR/RUB fell 0.32% to 69.3700.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.10.
