Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.13% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which rose 3.43% or 23.5 points to trade at 709.5 at the close. Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) added 2.36% or 9.45 points to end at 409.40 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 2.31% or 14.70 points to 651.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 1.90% or 0.0585 points to trade at 3.0195 in late trade. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 1.74% or 15.80 points to end at 892.10 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 1.45% or 2.25 points to 152.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 105 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.74% to 17.440 a new all time low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.43% or 18.89 to $1297.51 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $50.61 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $56.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.56% to 57.7794, while EUR/RUB fell 0.26% to 68.9325.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 92.01.
