Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.10% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which rose 2.87% or 16.90 points to trade at 605.00 at the close. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) added 2.66% or 3.42 points to end at 132.15 and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM) was up 2.07% or 0.092 points to 4.536 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yevroplan PAO (MCX:EPLN), which lost 5.31% or 38.0 points to trade at 677.0 in late trade. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 2.82% or 4.45 points to end at 153.35 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 2.41% or 1.040 points to 42.030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 106 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.82% to 16.960 a new all time low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.63% or 8.32 to $1303.18 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.54% or 0.28 to hit $51.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.68 to trade at $57.75 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.77% to 58.0145, while EUR/RUB rose 0.27% to 68.4010.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 92.90.
