Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM), which rose 9.18% or 6.98 points to trade at 82.98 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 5.96% or 0.0038 points to end at 0.0667 and LSR (MCX:LSRG) was up 4.77% or 32.0 points to 703.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST), which lost 3.66% or 35.0 points to trade at 920.0 in late trade. Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT) declined 2.80% or 2.20 points to end at 76.50 and Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE) shed 2.76% or 51.0 points to 1800.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 94 to 91 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of options, was down 6.26% to 42.400.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.60 to $1190.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.41 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.59 to trade at $55.33 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.57% to 57.840, while EUR/RUB fell 1.86% to 63.143.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 97.47.
