Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 1.97% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Impresa SGPS (LISBON:IMPA), which rose 1.22% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.83 at the close. Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS) fell 0.40% or 0.0165 points to end at 4.0645 and EDP (LISBON:EDP) was down 0.52% or 0.0185 points to 3.5175 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Portucel (LISBON:PTI), which lost 4.55% or 0.1815 points to trade at 3.8065 in late trade. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) declined 4.11% or 0.0003 points to end at 0.0070 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) shed 3.58% or 0.0440 points to 1.1860.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 56 to 13 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was down 3.21% or 2.10 to $63.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.08% or 1.84 to hit $57.88 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.49% or 17.90 to trade at $1187.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.83% to 1.0887, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.7066.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 97.29.
