Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.79% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA), which rose 1.01% or 0.068 points to trade at 6.770 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) added 0.49% or 0.0030 points to end at 0.6200 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 0.580 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 4.86% or 0.0016 points to trade at 0.0313 in late trade. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) declined 3.60% or 0.0630 points to end at 1.6870 and Semapa (LS:SEM) shed 2.84% or 0.3150 points to 10.7900.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 42 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was down 2.41% or 0.96 to $38.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.62% or 0.99 to hit $36.76 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.35% or 16.50 to trade at $1240.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1376, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8085.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 94.50.
