Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI fell 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which rose 5.34% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.49 at the close. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) added 3.14% or 0.09 points to end at 2.82 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) was up 0.53% or 0.04 points to 7.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which lost 4.92% or 0.48 points to trade at 9.28 in late trade. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) declined 3.43% or 0.65 points to end at 18.28 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) shed 3.28% or 0.10 points to 3.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 15 to 9 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was down 1.16% or 0.89 to $76.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.13% or 0.84 to hit $73.41 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.74% or 19.84 to trade at $2,685.24 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.33% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 108.92.
