Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Services and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 3.23% or 0.43 points to trade at 13.73 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) added 2.71% or 0.51 points to end at 19.30 and Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) was up 2.62% or 0.09 points to 3.53 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP), which lost 0.96% or 0.19 points to trade at 19.68 in late trade. Greenvolt Energias Renovaveis SA (ELI:GVOLT) declined 0.82% or 0.07 points to end at 8.43 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 6.98.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 5 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 0.92% or 0.78 to $85.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.24% or 1.01 to hit $82.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.78% or 18.40 to trade at $2,386.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.73.
