Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 3.18% or 0.49 points to trade at 15.88 at the close. Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) added 2.01% or 0.10 points to end at 4.87 and Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) was up 1.78% or 0.29 points to 16.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA), which lost 0.33% or 0.03 points to trade at 9.11 in late trade. Ibersol SGPS (ELI:IBS) declined 0.28% or 0.02 points to end at 7.24 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) shed 0.22% or 0.01 points to 4.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was up 1.72% or 1.19 to $70.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.19% or 1.44 to hit $67.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 1.20 to trade at $2,544.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.31% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 101.67.
