Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP), which rose 1.83% or 0.06 points to trade at 3.12 at the close. Semapa (ELI:SEM) added 1.55% or 0.22 points to end at 14.40 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) was up 1.49% or 0.24 points to 16.31 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP), which lost 1.15% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.48 in late trade. Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) declined 0.92% or 0.03 points to end at 2.80 and Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS) shed 0.45% or 0.02 points to 3.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 11 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 1.26% or 0.96 to $77.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.16% or 0.85 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.47% or 12.51 to trade at $2,684.91 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.25% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 109.00.
