Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Viscofan (MC:VIS), which rose 0.05% or 0.020 points to trade at 43.000 at the close. Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) fell 0.36% or 0.065 points to end at 17.775 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (MC:ICAG) was down 0.51% or 0.025 points to 4.877 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BBVA (MC:BBVA), which lost 3.96% or 0.255 points to trade at 6.181 in late trade. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 3.81% or 0.037 points to end at 0.935 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 3.13% or 0.317 points to 9.803.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 170 to 25 and 9 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.56% or 20.05 to $1308.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.17% or 1.48 to hit $45.19 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.16% or 1.52 to trade at $46.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.1111, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.9027.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.50% at 97.27.
