Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 4.85% or 41.20 points to trade at 892.76 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 3.55% or 0.06 points to end at 1.74 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.47% or 0.10 points to 6.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 3.53% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.10 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 3.15% or 5.00 points to end at 150.58 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) shed 2.86% or 0.17 points to 5.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 37 to 20 and 36 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.39% or 0.23 to $59.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $63.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1172.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.04% to 222.930, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.025.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 95.77.
